Chapter 4: The Theological And Philosophical "Matrixes" Of The Trilogy

As we have already seen in the previous chapters, the recalls with a Christian and Gnostic background are countless, excluding the philosophies connected to the development of the trilogy.

The theological matrix, which summarizes both the religious and philosophical aspects, is the Augustinism.

Analysing the innumerable works of the saint bishop of Hippo, we can notice how the brothers of Chicago have shown their great reverential interest for the most important Doctor of the Catholic Church, although they don’t mention him explicitly in the movies, except for the scenes filmed only for the Enter The Matrix videogame...

Chapter 3: The Subliminal Messages Of The Saga

The subliminal messages are stimuli destined to remain impressed in the addressee’s psyche under his perceptive sensitivity. That’s why these indirect messages avoid the examination of conscience, hiding in the unaware part of the human mind: the unconscious, which, however, pushes the addressees to act and have a behaviour correlated to the kind of recognised message.

This is exactly one of the three strong points, along with the theory of colours and the philosophical and theological themes, of the Matrix saga.
